Derale / Hayden Cooling Fan Relay
This kit is designed for a Single two speed fan from Derale, Tripac and Hayden that requires the low speed be powered in order for the high speed to come on. Not for use with Taurus or Mark VIII fans. This kit does not make a single speed fan run at two speeds.
It will operate the fans in a pair for high and low. This Kit is NOT designed to work with the A/C. This dual sensor relay kit is designed in a manner so that when the engine reaches 185 degrees your fan starts on low speed and if temperature rises to 200 degrees the secondary sensor then engages the high speed circuit simultaneously shutting off the low speed circuit, this will happen automatically. When high speed has cooled the engine below 200 degrees the high side stops and automatically goes into low speed and when cooled below 180 degrees the fan stops. This process of stepping through low to get to high greatly reduces the momentary spike the fan creates going to high speed and allowing for more economical components. A new Tripac fan draws a constant 45 amps when running on high plus whatever else you have, like audio system, air pumps, etc. So I highly recommend at least a 105 amp alternator.
If you are using a PCM to control the fan then the 185-200 sensors will not be used and not included in this kit. If you are using a dual temperature switch or different temperature switches the fan will operate according to those temps.
